本书是应用型本科院校规划教材之一，是哈尔滨德强商务学院外语系英语专业精品建设课程《综合英语》课的成果之一。全书是根据教育部于2007年7月颁布的《大学英语课程教学要求》，结合应用型本科院校学生的实际情况，参照英语快速阅读自身的特点编写而成。书中内容有三大部分：绪论快速阅读的方法和技巧、快速阅读文章和练习题答案。快速阅读文章分10章，每章由5篇同一话题的快速阅读文章组成。
