Like the restless pulse of the city, the pedestrian bridges add
radiance to other equally vibrant urban architectural decorations.
With the rapicl development of economic construction, urban
transport develops with a fast speed; the pedestrian bridge built
to ease urban traffic pressure is becoming an important part of the
urban landscape. The pedestrian bridge presents apparent traffic
and social benefits in improving the speed of vehicles, achieving
multiform of human and vehicle, bettering the situation of traffic
congestion, improving the capacity of the urban road network,
ensuring the safety and convenience of the pedestrian, and
improving the walk quality of urban residents.
The construction of the pedestrian bridge boomed from the early
1990s. In addition to a lot of new technology for more innovative
uses of the bridge, more attention was given to the attracting
appearance and its harmony with urban style. The pedestrian bridge
began to become one part of the urban planning. The bridge design
is not only an engineering design but also a combination of the

天桥在外在形态上具有特定的城市形体特征,但在其内部空间上却具有人性化的尺度,应体现对行人的关照,尤其突出对老、少、病、残等特殊群体的照顾。比如,坡度不大的坡道,方便轮椅上下,对于受周边环境所限法伸展的天桥则安装液压垂直电梯。为了给人们提供更舒适的过街环境,许多天桥还装了遮阳顶棚,通道设计得相对封闭,以免行人日晒雨淋,极大地保证了行人的安全。
而作为城市夜景照明的重要手段之一,亮化的天桥景观则是城市夜空中的绚丽长虹。天桥的照明以轮廓照明为主,突出“线”性空间的形式,通过对桥梁造型的勾画,为城市夜色增光添彩。具体手段从一些简单的射灯、外打灯,到利用数码光管等高科技光管材料等,来突出天桥的结构感、轮廓感,以营造明亮、欢快、热烈的夜景效果。
