This fourth book in a series about a detective-turned-therapy dog gets Buddy back into detective work as he helps to identify who pulled the school fire alarm and why. The story is told in Buddy''s voice which allows us to feel his passion for righting wrongs as well as his frustration at not being able to communicate his thoughts to humans. Nonetheless, with input from dog pals Mouse and Jazzy, as well as Cat with No Name, Buddy narrows the suspect list to three kids—plus a possible ghost—then helps to solve the mystery. Ease of reading is enhanced by the periodic lists Buddy develops to organize his thoughts and to track clues. The book''s format, with chapter titles and black and white illustrations will help young readers keep pace with the detailed plot. Kids will also appreciate the detective''s notebook-like spiral print at the top. Everyone will want to read to the end to find out who did it. Part of the "The Buddy Files" series.
